Following 27 years of service with the Klein ISD Police Department, Chief David Kimberly will retire from his post this June. In recognition of his years of service, district officials honored Kimberly at the May 9 board of trustees meeting.
Kimberly first joined the KISD Police Department in 1995 and served in various capacities, including as a patrol officer, campus officer, sergeant and captain, until he was promoted to chief of police in 2014. Prior to joining the KISD Police Department, Kimberly worked for the Montgomery County Precinct 4 Constable's Office.
Kimberly is the third person to hold the position as KISD Police Department chief; his predecessors, Guadalupe Rocha and Alfred Moore, served from 1999-2014 and from 1982-99, respectively. The KISD Police Department was the first school district police department in Texas, beginning its operations Sept. 1, 1982.
In recognition of Kimberly's years of service, the KISD board of trustees unanimously approved a resolution proclaiming May 9 as Chief David Kimberly Day in Klein. The recognition coincides with National Police Week, which falls on the week of May 15-21 this year.
