Families stroll between stores, shopping bags in hand; children climb shaded play mounds, and others pause for lunch before checking off the next item on their back-to-school list.
At Tanger Outlets Fort Worth, shopping is designed as an experience, combining national brands, seasonal savings and community events in one open-air destination.
Since opening in 2017, the center has expanded alongside one of North Texas' fastest-growing regions, bringing fresh updates to the space.
Located near Texas Motor Speedway, Buc-ee's and StarsCenter Northlake, the 352,000-square-foot center features more than 70 outlet stores serving shoppers from across North Texas and beyond.
5 new stores are now open
Over the past year, the center has grown its retail lineup. Recent additions include Portillo's, Clarks, Pandora, Fabletics and Invicta, bringing new dining, fashion, jewelry and athletic wear options to shoppers.
Additional retailers are expected to open this fall, including:
- Psycho Bunny: a stylish approach to men’s and kids’ apparel, including its reimagined take on the classic polo
- Zumiez: a unique blend of action sports, streetwear, and youth culture, featuring apparel, footwear, accessories, and hard goods for skate and snow from hundreds of brands
To do this, Tanger considers customer feedback when evaluating potential retailers. Requests come through social media, email and conversations with shoppers at the center.
Beyond new stores, Tanger has introduced Park Place: a new gathering area that features shaded seating, play mounds, café tables, artificial turf and large Western-inspired murals. The space was designed to give shoppers more opportunities to relax and spend time at the center beyond shopping.
As families prepare for the new school year, Tanger offers the convenience of finding clothing, shoes, accessories and everyday essentials in one location.
“It’s a great one-stop shop,” Conner said. “Shoppers can find everything they’re looking for at Tanger.”
Popular back-to-school retailers include:
- Old Navy
- H&M
- Nike
- Adidas
- Crocs
- American Eagle
- The Children's Place
- Under Armour
- More

Discover deals and savings
Throughout August, shoppers can take advantage of Tanger Deal Days, which offer up to an additional 25% off at participating stores, along with savings available through the TangerClub, either on the app or online.
Additionally, families are encouraged to shop during Tax-Free Weekend, Aug. 7-9.
“The dollar goes a long way here at Tanger,” Conner said.
The center will celebrate the season with its Back-to-School Bash on Aug. 1 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will include a DJ, music, cool treats, games & prizes, photo booth, and an interactive Unlock the Locker activity.
“The Unlock the Locker activity will have prizes, including backpack giveaways, school supply giveaways and gift card giveaways,” Conner said. “Everyone will have a chance to unlock a locker for a prize.”
Consistent community support
Alongside seasonal promotions, Tanger invests in community partnerships.
The center is currently hosting its fourth annual Stuff the Bus campaign in partnership with United Way of Denton County and Northwest ISD. Running through Aug. 9, the initiative encourages shoppers to donate school supplies and clothing for local students while they’re shopping for their own families. If they don’t have donations on hand, they can contribute funds online. All donors will receive a complimentary Tanger tote bag and additional savings.
Later this summer, Tanger will launch its annual TangerKids Grants program, which awards thousands of dollars to area schools to help fund classroom needs and educational programs. Conner said the grant program has become one of the center's most meaningful initiatives, especially as many schools face tightening budgets.
The center also hosts a TangerPink campaign, supporting breast cancer research and awareness initiatives.

Looking ahead
With additional retailers expected to join the center and new amenities enhancing the property, Conner said Tanger plans to continue evolving alongside the needs of its shoppers.
Whether visitors are stopping by for back-to-school shopping, seasonal savings, holiday events or community programs throughout the year, Conner said the goal remains the same: creating a place where shopping is both convenient and enjoyable.
