Dr. Shehz opened his own practice four months ago after working within high-volume healthcare models. His goal is to slow medicine down, restore autonomy to patient care and create a space where people are treated as individuals, not appointment slots.
Coming from a family with no history in medicine, Dr. Shehz views the ability to help patients preserve and protect their sight as something far greater than a profession.
“I help people see; it’s the most amazing privilege,” Dr. Shehz said.
That philosophy is reflected throughout Visionary Eye, which is intentionally designed to prioritize education, conversation and individualized care, particularly for patients facing life-changing procedures that will shape how they experience the world for decades to come.
“Visionary Eye is all about helping patients feel seen,” Dr. Shehz said.
What does the first visit look like for a new patient?
From the moment patients walk through the door, the experience is intentionally different. The space feels more like a welcoming home than a waiting room, and the appointment itself is comprehensive by design.
Each first consultation includes extensive diagnostic testing and a full review of eye health before any treatment decisions are discussed. The goal is clarity, both medically and emotionally, so patients understand what’s happening inside their own eyes and what options truly fit their lives.
Dr. Shehz walks patients through images, results and possibilities, rather than rushing through explanations. This empowers them to take ownership of their eye health.

What procedures and treatments do they offer?
Visionary Eye specializes in advanced vision correction and eye health procedures, including:
- LASIK
- Small Incision Lenticule Extraction, or SMILE, LASIK
- Photorefractive Keratectomy, or PRK
- Implantable Contact Lenses, known as EVO ICL
- Laser Cataract Surgery
- Custom Lens Replacement
- Minimally Invasive Glaucoma Surgery, or MIGS
How do they decide which procedure is right for each patient?
Patients can be candidates for more than one option. Choosing the right approach requires time, conversation and an understanding of how someone uses their vision every day.
Dr. Shehz takes everything into account, including a patient’s hobbies, such as sewing or golf, if they’re active in sports and more.
Dr. Shehz believes this highly individualized process simply can’t happen in a rushed environment.

What does it feel like to restore someone’s sight?
The operating room is where passion meets precision. For Dr. Shehz, surgery is both deeply technical and deeply human.
“I still get goosebumps because it is really a privilege to be inside somebody’s eye with your fingers,” Dr. Shehz said.
Moments after surgery are often emotional for patients and Dr. Shehz alike, as people can be experiencing clear vision for the first time. Seeing that immediate transformation reinforces why he chose this path.
“I lift patients up off the bed, and they can see,” Dr. Shehz said.
Dr. Shehz recently took this passion beyond his local practice, where he participated in a medical mission trip to Gaza.
"I went to help people see, and I came back with a new perspective on everything,” Dr. Shehz said. “Being in Gaza taught me that things can always be worse than they are, that every single day is a gift, even the hard ones. Especially the hard ones. For the patients, the surgery mattered, but what mattered more was knowing they hadn't been forgotten. That someone cared enough to show up. I restored their vision; they reminded me what it means to truly see.”

Ultimately, the goal goes beyond perfect outcomes.
If patients leave with clear vision but don’t feel seen, respected and cared for, the mission isn’t complete. Visionary Eye aims to be known as a place where clinical excellence and human connection coexist, where people trust not just the results but the process.
For Dr. Shehz, success means building a practice that delivers exceptional care today, and a system that continues to do so well into the future.
