The community, built in 2002, has earned a reputation for its hometown feel, long-time residents and the kind of personal service that keeps people rooted here year after year.
Property supervisor Gayle Shannon has watched the community grow, evolve and welcome generations of residents since she joined in 2003.
A community built on longevity
Longevity is one of the defining qualities of The Lodge at Lost Pines. Shannon said many neighbors have stayed for a decade or longer, some even moving out for a short time and returning later.
“We have a lot of residents who have been here for very long periods of time ... and we have repeat residents who have left and maybe bought a house or were in a different type of living arrangement,” Shannon said. “They have turned around and come back to us a couple of years later.”
These long-standing relationships are one reason the community maintains a sense of stability and connection that sets it apart from newer developments.
A community rooted in nature
While new construction rises throughout Bastrop, The Lodge at Lost Pines stands out for its peacefulness, created by the soaring trees, generous shade and green spaces.
“We’re established, we have a lot of trees, and we’re away from the hustle and bustle of the new construction and traffic congestion in Bastrop,” Shannon said.
Those simple, natural elements are what make the community feel timeless. Spacious patios and balconies also offer room to unwind, and much of the property remains wrapped in greenery rather than concrete.

A team that knows its residents
Part of the charm at The Lodge at Lost Pines comes from its dedicated on-site team, many of whom have worked at the community for years. Shannon herself has served for more than two decades, while longtime maintenance technician Brian Polley has been with the property for 15 years. His attention to detail and thorough repair work are among the top reasons residents stay.
Up front, Savannah Lawhon greets visitors with warmth, while Chella Harris supports the office and assists residents on weekends.
The team also enjoys adding small personal touches. They greet neighbors’ pets with treats, offer welcome boxes for new move-ins and host annual festivities such as the community’s well-loved Halloween and Christmas parties.
A place that feels like home
Though the community has welcomed new generations, including many tech-savvy professionals coming to Bastrop for companies such as SpaceX, its identity remains the same: calm, friendly and rooted in a familiar, small-town feel.
It’s a hometown-style property that offers comfort, quiet and the assurance that someone is always there to help.
