Now, the organization is taking a major step toward doubling its impact across Williamson County with the expansion of its Treasures Charity Resale Shop & Boutique.
“The heart of our mission here at the Serving Center is the food pantry,” Executive Director Lori Scott said. “We provide food and financial assistance for rent, utilities, prescriptions, transportation and temporary lodging. We also have a charity thrift store ... [that is] open to the public. We take donations of everything, and we want people to shop because that revenue supports our program’s services.”
That support isn’t small. Currently, the Serving Center assists around 1,200 families every month and reached more than 128,000 people last year through its food pantry and food distribution program.
About 40% of its annual funding comes from the thrift stores alone. This money can be used wherever the need is greatest.
“We are really blessed to have this thrift store and this self-funded source of revenue,” Scott said.
What will the expansion make possible?
The new facility will be double the size of the current resale store and boutique, creating more space for donations, shoppers and opportunities to give back.
“We anticipate ... it will quickly double our revenue,” Scott said. “That will enable us to [provide] more financial assistance for our client families.”

The expansion will also allow for a complete reorganization of the Serving Center’s programs. When the stores move across the parking lot, the existing space will transform into a larger food pantry.
“That will double the size of our food pantry,” Scott said. “The clothing store space that will be vacated ... will be dedicated to veteran services.”
The changes mark what Scott described as a huge step of faith for the organization. Construction is nearly complete, with a soft opening expected in December and a grand opening planned for January 2026.
How can you make a difference?
The Serving Center runs on a lean team of just seven full-time employees, supported by 25-40 volunteers a day. Once the new store opens, that number will need to grow significantly. Scott said most of the volunteers will be needed in the thrift store.
In addition to time, the organization welcomes donations of furniture, clothing, household goods and food.
