For families seeking a fun, safe and immersive play experience in Austin, Mt. Playmore delivers on all fronts.

The facility, founded in 2014, provides a space for children to step away from screens and engage in physical play.

"Mt. Playmore encourages children to get off their devices ... and physically play around other children," Director of Operations Deirdre Frazier-Hunt said.

The indoor climate-controlled environment is designed to keep children comfortable year-round, no matter Texas’ unpredictable weather. This thoughtful planning makes it an ideal destination for families looking to spend quality time together in a safe, welcoming space.

What activities are available?

Mt. Playmore offers a variety of attractions that appeal to children of all ages. The centerpiece is a three-level playscape, comparable in size to a 3,800-square-foot home. Parents can relax in surrounding couches and armchairs while keeping a close eye on their children.

“Parents have a 360-degree view of their children, so safety is a big component of ... what makes parents choose [Mt. Playmore],” Frazier-Hunt said.

Other standout features include a toddler room dedicated to children two and under, a toddler-friendly arcade and a larger arcade featuring about 70 games and simulator rides for kids three and older.

Mt. Playmore continues to innovate with sensory accommodations for children, including an upcoming sensory corner designed for calm-down moments. The facility also offers flexible visit options, allowing guests to come and go throughout the day.

With a focus on children ages two through 12, the facility ensures that every activity, ride and game is appropriate and engaging for its target age group.

What types of food are available?

Mt. Playmore offers non-dairy, vegan and gluten-free options at its in-house restaurant.

"We have a full-service, made-from-scratch restaurant," Frazier-Hunt said. "Most [businesses in this industry] just have concession stands, ... but at Mt. Playmore, everything is made fresh. It's one of our values. We think about kids ... and parents who are concerned about what goes in their kids' bodies."

Do they host birthday parties?

For over a decade, Mt. Playmore has been hosting birthday parties. They offer seven themed party rooms and customizable packages.

Frazier-Hunt emphasized that birthday parties are more than just celebrations; they’re introductions for new families to the facility.

"If you run great birthday parties, you're ready to run a great business," she said. "Families are walking away saying, 'Oh my gosh, we've got to come back to Mt. Playmore. That was a great time.'"

How is safety prioritized?

Safety is a cornerstone of Mt. Playmore’s operations. All children must wear socks or shoe covers, and adults must be accompanied by children to enter.

Every adult is checked in with a waiver and ID. Adults and children in the same group receive identical UV ink stamps, which are checked upon exit to ensure each child leaves with the proper guardian.

Additionally, Mt. Playmore is a strict no-hit zone. If an incident occurs, staff review security footage to ensure appropriate action is taken, and those who break the rules are promptly addressed.

The facility maintains a no-nuts policy and partners with reputable food vendors to ensure food safety.

How does pricing work?

Pricing is simple: pay at the door for general visits. Optional 10-visit passes are available at a 40% discount.

Special themed days provide additional value, which include:
  • Sunday: come before noon to receive a $5 game card
  • Monday: buy a $20 game card and receive $10
  • Wednesday: kids eat free with the purchase of an adult entree
  • Thursday: half off admission to children who wear a princess or superhero shirt
  • Friday: buy a $20 game card and receive 200 tickets free

Creating a legacy of play

Mt. Playmore thrives on the sense of community it fosters. Families return year after year, and children grow up with their earliest memories tied to the facility.

"I had a family who started coming in when [their child] was about 14 months old," Frazier-Hunt said. "We closed our doors for quite a bit of time [during the pandemic], ... and when the child came back through the door, she threw out her arms and said, 'Miss Playmore!'... [We want to] have kids who have grown up in Mt. Playmore bring their [own] kids here. That's the great legacy we want."

With engaging attractions, a commitment to safety and a dedication to creating lasting memories, Mt. Playmore has become more than a play center; it’s a cornerstone of family life in Austin.
