Triumph Sporting Arms combines family values, knowledge and a friendly atmosphere for all firearm buyers

In the heart of Flower Mound, Triumph Sporting Arms located at 3351 Long Prairie Road has become a go-to destination for firearm enthusiasts and first-time buyers alike. Opened in 2020, the family-owned store is the result of a dream shared by owner Robert Swackhamer and his parents, who worked together to create a space that offers more than just firearms.

“The goal from the start was to build a place that’s more than just about selling guns. We want to be a resource, a trusted spot for education and a friendly atmosphere where people feel comfortable asking questions, learning and getting the help they need,” Swackhamer said. “Whether you’re a seasoned shooter or a first-time buyer, our focus has always been on creating a space where everyone is welcome and can walk away feeling more confident in their knowledge.”

Before opening the store, Swackhamer gained valuable experience working at a family-run gun shop outside San Antonio. When he and his wife moved back to the Dallas-Fort Worth area, they decided it was time to bring their own vision to life. After a year of setbacks due to the pandemic, the store officially opened its doors, and the family hasn't looked back.

At Triumph Sporting Arms, customers can find everything from handguns and hunting rifles to AR-15s, along with all the accessories needed to customize and maintain firearms. The shop also carries a variety of optics, hearing and eye protection, and cleaning supplies. For first-time buyers, one of their most popular items is the Ruger 10/22, a lightweight, low-recoil rifle perfect for beginners.

"We also specialize in firearm repairs and advanced gunsmithing work," Swackhamer said. "Keeping firearms in top condition is a priority for us, and we take pride in offering services like cleaning, repairs and scope installations to help our customers maintain their gear."

Education is a key pillar of their business. The store offers Texas license-to-carry classes and individual firearm training with a certified instructor. Ken Theaker, their in-house trainer, brings years of experience teaching new shooters and makes sure every class is relaxed and informative.

“Education is at the heart of what we do. We want our customers to feel confident and safe with their firearms,” Swackhamer said. “Whether it’s a first-time buyer or someone looking to learn more, we’re here to help.”

The family atmosphere extends to the store’s staff, who pride themselves on being approachable and nonintimidating.

“We really focus on being the friendliest gun store around,” Swackhamer said. “We know it can be intimidating to walk into a store where you’re not familiar with the products, but we make sure everyone feels comfortable asking questions. If we don’t know something, we’ll find the answer for you.”

This emphasis on customer service has made the store stand out in the community. With a staff that is both knowledgeable and personable, the store has earned a reputation as a trusted local business where customers can get quality products and expert advice without feeling pressured.

As a family-run business, Triumph Sporting Arms is proud to serve the Flower Mound area and help both novice and experienced gun owners navigate the world of firearms with confidence.
