With affordable ticket prices, a fun atmosphere and an emphasis on the local community, a Frisco Fighters game is an activity for whole families to enjoy.
The team is a part of the Indoor Football League (IFL) and is family-owned by the Germain family instead of being backed by a national corporation. The team played its inaugural season in Spring 2021.
“What makes us unique first and foremost is we are a family-owned professional team,” Head Coach Andre Coles said. “It's very much a community-based team.”
Because the Comerica Center is a relatively small arena, Coles said no matter where fans sit, they’ll have great seats.
“There’s not a bad seat at our field,” Coles said. “Regardless of if you buy a $10 ticket or if you buy a $50 dollar ticket, you get to see the action.”
With affordable tickets and an engaging atmosphere, a Frisco Fighters game is a great activity for families in the area. The team’s staff make gamedays a fun experience for people of all ages.
“When you go to a major sporting event, the chances of you ever getting on the field during a game is probably less than 1%,” Coles said. “At our games, there's a great chance your kid might be able to come down to the field and be a part of that.”
At a Frisco Fighters game, staff invite fans to participate in fun activities such as relay races or a tortilla toss to keep fans engaged.
“It’s interactive from start to finish,” Coles said. “There's never a dead period, which is awesome for families trying to entertain kids.”
The team’s commitment to the local community is another way it differentiates itself. The Frisco Fighters partner with local community and school groups to highlight the City of Frisco as a whole.
“We invite kids down [to the field] and we also host a lot of local businesses, fans, high school bands and dance groups to really highlight Frisco because we want to show off the entire town and not make it just about us,” Coles said.
The Frisco Fighters’ emphasis on the local community extends beyond gamedays. The team recruits locally and takes pride in having graduates of local high schools on the team. Coles said the players inspire younger athletes in the area by showing them there is a way to continue playing football after college outside of the National Football League.
In addition, Frisco Fighters team members are active participants in the Frisco community. Coles said players volunteer at local 5k walks and Frisco ISD events like field day. Last year, the team hosted a Juneteenth event to educate the community about the significance of the holiday.
The Frisco Fighters’ first game of the season will be against the Tulsa Oilers on March 22 at 7:30 p.m. at the Comerica Center in Frisco.
“It's a big rivalry for us and we would love to see the entire City of Frisco out at our game,” Coles said. “You're gonna have a great time and it's one of those things where once you see it one time for yourself, you're gonna be hooked.”
