Material Bespoke Stone + Tile has been operating for over 60 years, offering a wide variety of stone and tile materials. It currently has stone manufacturing facilities in Texas and Mexico, as well as a ceramic manufacturing facility in Mexico, allowing the company to produce marble, travertine, limestone and ceramic tile for a variety of projects, including:

  • Mosaics

  • Exterior cladding

  • Porches and decks

  • Flooring

  • Backsplashes

  • Pool areas

  • More

Material serves everyone from homeowners and realtors to contractors, designers, builders and architects. Its in-house sales team includes two interior designers, who help clients visualize how materials work together across a space. The company also provides tile drawings and computer-aided design (CAD) drawings for architectural pieces.

After more than three decades in Austin, including approximately 24 years in Westlake, Material recently moved its showroom to Northwest Austin.

Why did Material choose Northwest Austin for its new location?

When the company’s lease in Westlake ended, the team saw an opportunity to make Material more accessible to a broader range of Austin-area residents.

The new location puts the showroom closer to other businesses, stone suppliers and design professionals in North and Central Austin, such as Ferguson Home and a few slab companies in the area.

“There are so many other businesses that have moved into this area, within a five-mile radius,” sales and design associate Nicki Taylor said. “We're trying to make ourselves more centralized, so that we're more available to everyone in Austin instead of only the Westlake area.”

The new showroom’s open layout also changes the customer experience, allowing them to move through the space and see more of the available products at once.

“Our old showroom was broken up into a lot of different rooms, but this one is much more open. Everyone who has walked in that used to visit the old showroom says, ‘Wow! I love how open it is,’” Taylor said.

What standout projects has Material completed?

Taylor mentioned that over the past decade, outdoor living spaces have become increasingly popular, particularly as people move to Texas to take advantage of its mild winters.

The company is currently working on a residence in The Woodlands, which has a sprawling exterior area featuring columns and tiled groin vaults. The outdoor space is about as large as the home’s interior main floors.

“The outdoor space is so grand. When you walk outside, you honestly feel like you're at a resort; you forget that you're in someone's backyard,” Taylor said.

Another memorable project was in the Houston area, where Material supplied pool decking and coping for a home with an elaborate backyard pool area that had a large Schlitterbahn-style water slide.

What does the future look like for Material?

The new showroom is an important part of Material’s next chapter. Its open design makes it easier to showcase the company’s extensive product selection while the Northwest Austin location will introduce Material to clients who may never have visited the former Westlake showroom.

With decades of manufacturing experience, an experienced design team, and the ability to independently create and source materials for projects, Material is positioning its new showroom as a place where Austin’s builders, designers, and homeowners can bring their ideas and turn them into finished spaces.
