When Christopher Motley relocated from New York to Bastrop for work, he was eager to find a new home and start the next chapter of his journey!
Within 48 hours of landing, he found a home at Alta Trails.
“What drew me to Alta Trails was my job [in Bastrop],” Motley said. “I was looking for an apartment complex that had a pool and the convenience of a washer and dryer included. The space was great, ... and [the team] was very responsive. They made a really easy transition.”
As the very first resident to move in, he’s had a front-row seat to experience how Alta Trails has grown, and how it continues to foster connection and comfort in everyday ways.
Since opening in October 2024, the complex balances lifestyle, functionality and warmth. For Motley, it’s the little things that stand out.
“I've lived in a lot of apartment complexes that aren't consistently clean,” Motley said. “[At Alta Trails], the pool is always clean, even on the weekends when more people are there, and the trash is always picked up. That's probably what I appreciate the most about being here.”
Other everyday details, such as built-in security and amenities, make life easier in subtle but significant ways.
“I love that [the complex] added Ring-style cameras to every apartment,” Motley said. “I’ve always thought about getting one. Now I get to see who's coming in and out of my apartment, and when I walk my dogs, it’s very helpful.”
For Motley and many others, Alta Trails offers the kind of lifestyle upgrade that revolves around ease. From in-unit washers and dryers to consistently available parking, the details are designed to remove friction from daily routines.
“I never used to have the opportunity [to park easily]. I would have to race to get home by a certain time, so ... it’s very nice to have a surplus of parking,” Motley said.
Still, it’s the sense of community that makes Alta Trails shine brightest. At the pool, neighbors toss footballs and fire up the grills. At the dog park, strangers become friends. In the leasing office, every visit is an opportunity for connection.
“When I moved here, I would go [to the leasing office] twice a day just to talk to someone,” Motley said. “There are people who I go to the pool with consistently, and who I grill for.”
Inside the office, community manager Kris Munson and her team make it a point to know each resident and ensure everyone feels seen.
“We are always here to welcome them and to talk to them,” Munson said. “We want to make them feel at home every time they visit the office.”
Maintenance supervisor Jeffrey Dittrich leads with the same spirit of attentiveness.
“You’d be surprised at how many residents are shocked that I call them to let them know what's going on [with their maintenance request] and when it's complete,” Dittrich said. “I think that goes a long way.”
Regular resident events, such as ice cream socials and Sunday Fundays, help foster even more connection. The pool, fitness center, dog park and clubhouse stay active, not just as amenities, but as places to build community.
“If a friend asked me what it's like living here, I would say that it's communal, and it’s easy. The people that live here are very kind,” Motley said.
