In 1977, dentist Kenneth Dr. Lepow got a tip from an orthodontist friend: “Kenny, you have to build in Jersey Village.” Founded in 1956, Jersey Village was a fast-growing town with little established dental care and plenty of opportunity.

Dr. Lepow founded the original dental practice as Lepow Dental, located off of Windfern road in an 800-square-foot strip center. The practice would grow as the city did, eventually expanding into 1600, and finally 2400 square feet.

Bursting at the seams, the practice would see its first move in 2000 to a 1.3 acre space off of West Road. This move would see a name change to West Road Dental to reflect its location. And there it stood for 25 years, until March of 2025, where it would move again into a newer, more central location off of West Sam Houston Parkway North.

The practice would finally move centrally into Jersey Village, the community it had served for nearly 5 decades—that same practice continues to serve the community under a new name, home and doctor.

Parkway Modern Dentistry, now led by Dr. Alexander Ling, continues Dr. Lepow’s legacy and reimagines a neighborhood dental practice.

The next chapter

After earning his dental degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, and completing a two year general practice residency in Houston, Dr. Ling wanted more than a place to practice dentistry; he wanted to build lasting relationships with patients and become part of a community.

That goal led him to Dr. Lepow at the end of 2022. What began as a conversation about practice ownership grew into mentorship and friendship as they shared the same philosophy.

When Dr. Lepow decided to retire after decades of serving Jersey Village families, Dr. Ling took over the practice in June of 2024.

Today, Parkway Modern Dentistry continues Dr. Lepow’s legacy of patient-first care with Dr. Ling’s fresh passionate perspective, a reflection of both doctors' beliefs: old-school warmth paired with modern, cutting-edge care.

Why do patients trust the practice?

The “modern” in Parkway Modern Dentistry isn't an attempt to replace the personal touch with technology; instead, the goal is to combine advanced clinical care with the familiarity of a neighborhood dentist who has served their community for generations.

That blend builds long-term trust, reduces anxiety around dental visits, and creates a continuity of care that can improve comfort and outcomes over time.

“We want people to feel like family when they walk in,” Ling said. “Technology is here to improve our delivery of care. However, it is our emphasis on relationships that truly sets us apart.”

Ling describes the practice in five words: your modern small-town practice. Not a corporate chain but instead a dental team who knows your name, remembers your life, and is passionate at delivering high quality, modern dentistry with integrity.

What dental services are offered?

Parkway Modern Dentistry provides comprehensive dental services for patients of nearly every age, allowing families to receive comprehensive care under one roof. Services include:

  • Family and general dentistry: Dental checkups, preventative care and everything in between
  • Emergency dental: Urgent dental care—from lost teeth to dental injuries, extractions, and root canals
  • Restorative dentistry: Tooth crowns, dentures, bridges, and dental implants
  • Orthodontics: Classic braces or modern Invisalign®
  • Sedation dentistry: From laughing gas to full general anesthesia services
Beyond clinical care, the practice offers patient-focused amenities for more comfortable and convenient visits, including blankets and neck pillows, massage chairs, a beverage bar, noise-canceling headphones, TVs in treatment rooms, and extended hours.

These reflect a broader approach to care, prioritizing comfort and convenience—setting the stage for Parkway Modern Dentistry to integrate advanced technology to enhance the patient experience and improve outcomes.

How Parkway Modern Dentistry uses technology

What sets Parkway Modern Dentistry apart isn’t just its warmth—it’s the combination of that approach with advanced technology not always found in neighborhood practices. The focus is on faster care, clearer communication, and more predictable outcomes.

Same-day crowns let patients leave with a permanent ceramic crown in one visit, designed and milled in-office with no temporary crown or follow-up appointment. AI-assisted diagnostics help detect early decay signs not visible on standard X-rays. Combined with 3D scanning instead of traditional impressions, patients get a more comfortable experience and clearer, real-time insight into their oral health through digital imaging. In-house 3D printing speeds up care, allowing custom appliances like night guards and surgical guides to be made without lab delays.

The result is simpler care with fewer surprises and more informed patients.

“We use technology to establish transparency, so patients are part of the process instead of standing apart. Modern dentistry means we’re better able to bridge the gap and enhance communication.” Dr. Ling said.

Giving back on Smile Day

To commemorate 49 years of serving the Jersey Village and Northwest Houston community, on May 29th, 2026, Dr. Ling launched the inaugural Smile Day at Parkway—an annual event providing free, comprehensive dental care to selected patients. The goal was to honor the practice’s legacy on this day by ensuring cost need not be a barrier to care.

From an internal vote, the practice selected patients with significant unmet needs, from longtime patients to those needing a reason to smile. On the first Smile Day, three patients received life-changing treatment, provided by Dr. Ling, and his two associate doctors Drs. Nadia Mossad and Ruby Pena.

One patient was Dr. Ling’s aunt, who needed extensive extractions and a full restorative plan with implants. Another was a beautiful young woman who received an implant and multiple crowns after living with a missing front tooth and extensive decay. A third patient is a young father who underwent multiple root canals, extractions, and full upper teeth restorations after years of severe dental damage.

Beyond the procedures, Smile Day is about restoring confidence and how dentistry with heart can profoundly change lives.
