For founder Josh Tanksley, starting Tanked Houston was about solving a problem he hadn't seen anyone else address in the Houston area.

Rather than asking busy drivers to carve out time for another stop in their day, Tanksley brings the gas station to them. Customers simply order fuel through the Tanked Houston app, and their vehicle can be filled anywhere within the company's service area.

Beyond convenience, Tanksley said the service offers peace of mind, particularly for women and younger drivers. Teenagers, college students and anyone driving at night can avoid stopping at unfamiliar gas stations, while busy families juggling work, school and extracurricular activities can remove one more errand from their schedules.

What membership plans are available?

Tanked Houston offers one-time fuel deliveries for customers who need them, as well as subscriptions, which Tanksley said provide the greatest value.

Options include:

  • Single Service Delivery ($15 per delivery): Unlimited deliveries to one vehicle, each for a $15 delivery fee, with no monthly cost.

  • Hank’s Single Service ($25 per month): Unlimited deliveries to one vehicle with no delivery costs.

  • Two-Horse Hitch ($30 per month): Unlimited deliveries to two vehicles. Additional vehicles (up to five) can be added for $5 per vehicle, per month.

  • The Full Saloon (tailored pricing): Unlimited fuel delivery to five or more vehicles. This is perfect for businesses, helping employees spend less time at gas stations and more time on the job.

For each membership plan or single service delivery, customers order through the Tanked Houston app, where they can choose to pay for a specific number of gallons, a set dollar amount or they can simply choose the "fill it up" option.

Customers receive notifications when Tanksley is on the way, when he arrives and a receipt once fueling is complete, without ever needing to leave their home or office. Those with locked gas caps can unscrew them, so the tank is ready to be filled when Tanksley arrives.

All heroes, including teachers, firefighters, police officers, veterans and active-duty military members, receive $5 off their subscription.

Where does Tanked Houston source its gas from, and does it mark up gas prices?

The company charges based on what the daily average cost for gas is, and it sources its gas from stations that have a high rate of turnover, including Walmart, Murphy Oil and Kroger.

“I want to make sure my customers are getting the best gas that is available,” Tanksley said.

What's next for Tanked Houston?

Tanked Houston currently serves southeast Houston, Friendswood, Pearland, Webster and Texas City, including areas stretching from the east side of Hwy. 288 toward Pasadena. Tanksley hopes to continue expanding as more customers discover the service. He ultimately envisions multiple Tanked Houston vehicles operating throughout the city to meet growing demand.

As a local, family-owned business, he hopes to build something that lasts for generations.

“Eventually, I would like to see all four of my kids working in the business,” Tanksley said.

For Tanksley, the business is about making everyday life a little bit easier for the people who call Houston home.
