For more than 50 years, Camp Doublecreek has been a cherished part of Central Texas summers, where kids build confidence, forge friendships and enjoy the outdoors. Camp Doublecreek has spent the past two years at Reunion Ranch in Georgetown and will continue there thanks to a successful partnership.
“Even without a home base for a while, our core values, structure, and traditions have stayed the same,” Director Dan Neal said. “Who we are as Doublecreek hasn’t changed—just the location.”
The rural setting promises the same family-centered spirit campers have loved for generations, with new spaces and amenities that enhance the experience.
A family-rooted legacy
In 1971, Carter and Trudy Lester combined their business and teaching backgrounds to create Camp Doublecreek, a safe, enriching day camp.
“They wanted Camp Doublecreek to feel like a true family,” Neal said. “Everyone called them Uncle Carter and Aunt Trudy—it wasn’t just a camp; it was like having an extended family outside of home.”
From the beginning, the camp has balanced fun with purpose, nurturing kids as campers and individuals. Its mission has always been simple yet powerful: to give children a place to play, learn and grow outdoors.

Reunion Ranch has provided the perfect backdrop for Camp Doublecreek’s mission and values over the past two years. “Finding a space to support everything we do was key,” Neal said. “Reunion Ranch lets us stay true to our values: inspiring kids, challenging them, encouraging creativity and helping them engage fully.”

The three faces of Camp Doublecreek
Today, Camp Doublecreek operates three distinct programs, each with its own personality and purpose.
Day Camp at Reunion Ranch is the heart of Camp Doublecreek, offering a full day of structured fun, friendship and exploration for campers ages 4 to 14. Each week features a new theme, with singalongs, counselor challenges and all-camp celebrations that foster community.
Activities include:

DC Adventures offers a thrill-packed experience for campers ages 10 to 14. It gives attendees an adventure filled experience with a focus on the high elements. The program also hosts school groups, corporate team-building events and community family fun days.

- Balance and obstacle challenges
- Group games and team-building exercises
DC Riding Academy continues the camp’s love of horses. The academy is open to campers ages 7 to 14 and focuses on excellent horsemanship in an encouraging environment. Participants learn mounted and ground skills alongside camp games, community events and birthday parties.
