For food lovers looking to explore new dining experiences while supporting a good cause, Pearland Restaurant Weeks offers an opportunity to do both.

Now celebrating its fifth year, the annual event organized by Visit Pearland invites participating restaurants to create special curated menus and meal bundles for residents and visitors alike.

From Oct. 1-31, local foodies can dine at their favorite restaurant or try a new spot to support the Pearland Neighborhood Center and the local businesses that have helped establish Pearland as a Houston-area dining destination.

How did Pearland Restaurant Weeks begin?

Pearland Restaurant Weeks first launched in 2022 after local restaurateur Harold Wong, owner and head chef of Boiling Dragon, approached Visit Pearland with the idea. Having participated in Houston Restaurant Weeks in the past, Wong believed a similar event could highlight Pearland’s growing restaurant community.

“As the city's Destination Marketing Organization, our role is to promote the city of Pearland as a place to visit, and a lot of that is showcasing unique offerings including the local businesses in the city,” said Rebekah Burns, marketing manager for Visit Pearland. “[Wong] came to us, and we loved the idea”

The inaugural event featured 16 restaurants and raised funds for the Pearland Neighborhood Center. Since then, participation has continued to grow, and organizers are hoping to attract even more for this year’s anniversary celebration.

What restaurants are participating in Pearland Restaurant Weeks?

Pearland Restaurant Weeks encourages diners to eat around the world, Burns said, as the city’s culinary scene offers diverse dining options for everyone, including soul food, Asian food, seafood, Tex-Mex, barbecue and even high tea.

The restaurants participating in Pearland Restaurant Weeks are:

  • Barcenas Mexican Grill

  • Bayou Grill

  • Big Horn BBQ

  • Boiling Dragon

  • Central Texas BBQ

  • Cocina Morales

  • Doglegs Golf Lounge

  • El Pollo Loco

  • Four Friends Tea Room

  • Good Vibes Coastal Kitchen

  • Grazia Italian Kitchen

  • Hoppe’s Grill & Bar

  • Iguanas Ranas Cantina

  • Thai Cottage

  • Yellow Apron Baking Co.

“[Pearland] has just about every cuisine you can think of and the event really shows that off,” Burns said.

What’s on the menu at Pearland Restaurant Weeks?

Participating restaurants curate special menus that differ from their everyday offerings for Pearland Restaurant Weeks. Menus will feature either a traditional multi-course meal or a meal bundle that includes combinations such as an entree, side and drink.

The two options make it convenient for diners to discover local eats and for restaurants to showcase their offerings. For each purchase off the curated menu, restaurants will donate a portion to the Pearland Neighborhood Center to fund programs such as rent and utility assistance and the food pantry.

The Pearland Restaurant Weeks menu prices are:

  • Breakfast: two courses or a meal bundle for $20; $2 donation to the Pearland Neighborhood Center

  • Lunch: two courses or a meal bundle for $25; $3 donation to the Pearland Neighborhood Center

  • Dinner: three courses or a meal bundle for $39; $5 donation to the Pearland Neighborhood Center

Burns said the bundled meal option also lets restaurants without regular coursed meal options be on the event lineup, and diners short on time can swing by a participating restaurant, buy a bundle and still support the cause.

“That's something special to our event that not every restaurant weeks event does,” Burns said.

Returning for another year is the event’s digital passport program. Diners who sign up and “check in” to eat via a mobile app at a certain number of participating locations will be entered into a drawing for local restaurant gift cards, placing a fun, competitive twist on supporting local businesses in Pearland.

What is the local impact of Pearland Restaurant Weeks?

While the month-long event serves as an economic boost for local businesses, it has also raised over $16,000 in donations to the Pearland Neighborhood Center, a nonprofit organization that provides resources for local families throughout the year.

Burns said the timing of this year's event is especially meaningful because its support for the organization comes ahead of the holiday season, when community needs often increase.

For Visit Pearland, Pearland Restaurant Weeks is a time for the dining community to come together and a chance for local restaurants to showcase what they contribute to making Pearland a place where visitors and locals know they can eat a good meal.

"When you think about where you like to go and eat when you visit a city, you want to try the small restaurants, the local restaurants," Burns said. "You don't want to eat at the same places you can find everywhere else. We're really passionate about supporting these restaurants that make Pearland the foodie destination that it is."
