For 24 years, locally owned Castle Hill Fitness has been more than a place to work out. The Austin gym is creating opportunities for longtime members and newcomers alike to connect, move and find a sense of community.

“We want to invite people in, wherever they are in their health, wellness and fitness journey, and create a safe space for them,” general manager Lori Johnson said.

As the holiday season approaches, the gym is continuing that mission with accessible community classes, social events and seasonal offerings designed to help people maintain their wellness routines while having fun.

How is Castle Hill Fitness bringing more joy to movement?

Dance has become one way Castle Hill Fitness is encouraging members to approach exercise differently. The gym has expanded its dance offerings, which combine cardiovascular exercise with an upbeat, social atmosphere. Marketing manager Rebecca Brumberg said the classes can make fitness feel less intimidating.

“We’re just grooving, and we’re having fun. You look over at your neighbor, and you're laughing, and that takes away the pressure to be perfect,” Brumberg said. “We're not here for choreography; we're just here to wiggle.”

This year’s dance classes include some longtime favorites, as well as new additions, including:

  • Dallas Cowboys “Thunderstruck” pom

  • 80’s-themed pom

  • Tango

  • Hip hop

  • Cardio dance

  • Turn up Dance Fitness

  • Hit Yo Dance

  • Sparkle Pop Dance

  • The “Reindeer Slay” pom class, taking place on Dec. 18, 2026

These classes are part of Castle Hill Fitness’ community class program, which offers select classes at a discounted rate to create a more accessible entry point. Other community class offerings include kickboxing, yoga, fitness classes and more.

What can the community expect this holiday season?

Castle Hill Fitness will bring back Free Friend Fridays from Nov. 13-Dec. 18, 2026, allowing members and nonmembers to bring a friend to the gym each Friday. The program is intended to make it easier to stay active and spend time together when holiday travel and changing schedules can disrupt normal routines.

The gym also plans to continue offering wellness-focused programming intended to help people feel grounded and connected during the busy season.

Additionally, beginning Nov. 1, 2026, Castle Hill Fitness will offer a discounted two-month holiday membership through the end of the year. Complimentary freezes are included to accommodate holiday travel and make the membership more flexible. Austin residents interested in experiencing Castle Hill Fitness can access a free three-day VIP trial, which includes classes and use of the gym.

Ultimately, Castle Hill Fitness strives to help community members connect with each other and find joy in movement every day.

“Everyone is searching for that sense of connection, I think now more than ever,” Brumberg said. “We want to feel like we're connecting to the human beings around us, and I think we're really trying to serve that need now.”
