Behind the familiar, nationwide logo of The Joint Chiropractic sits a family-owned small business. While the brand is recognized across the country, its Kingwood and Atascocita locations are independently owned by David and Anne Glover, a Houston-area family.

For many years, the clinics have combined the resources of a national brand with neighborhood accountability, providing routine chiropractic care to the families, students and working professionals of the Lake Houston area, with doctors in the clinics five days a week.

Why do people go to a chiropractor?

While many assume chiropractic care is reserved for severe injuries, it can also focus on maintaining joint mobility, easing daily physical stress and helping people stay active—whether they are seeking relief from discomfort or maintaining long-term wellness.

Depending on the individual, everyday goals often include:

  • Picking up grandchildren or playing with children

  • Keeping up with young children, from car seats to the playground

  • Staying ready for practices, games and tournament weekends as a student-athlete

  • Playing golf, exercising, fishing or horseback riding

  • Sitting through long school days, commutes or workdays more comfortably

  • Working in the yard or gardening

  • Improving posture and supporting mobility

  • Staying active in retirement

For the team, success extends beyond what happens on the adjustment table.

“It’s about what the patient is able to do when they leave the clinic and go right back to living their lives,” said owners David and Anne Glover.

Who are the doctors caring for local patients?

The clinics’ three chiropractors, who see patients five days a week, bring a mix of clinical experience, patient education and active lifestyles to their approach to care.

  • Dr. Robin Rivers, Kingwood: Rivers earned her Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Cleveland Chiropractic College in Los Angeles in 1981 and brings decades of experience to the clinic. An avid equestrian, she takes an educational, relationship-focused approach, helping patients understand how their care fits into their lifestyles.

  • Dr. Mitchell “Mitch” Miletello, Kingwood: Miletello earned his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Texas Chiropractic College in 1995 and has more than 30 years of clinical experience. Outside the clinic, he works out, holds a fourth-degree black belt in Shotokan karate and studies jiu-jitsu, giving him a personal appreciation for movement and staying active.

  • Dr. Nicholas “Nick” Beausoleil, Atascocita: Beausoleil earned his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Parker University after receiving a bachelor’s degree in exercise science from Lyon College. A former collegiate golfer, he brings his background in movement and athletics into conversations with patients, including student-athletes. He also enjoys hunting, fishing, camping and cycling.

Despite their different backgrounds, the doctors share the same starting point: understanding the individual.

“The person sitting in front of us isn’t just a neck, a back or a set of symptoms. They’re a person with a job, a family, hobbies and goals,” the Glovers said.

What can first-time patients expect?

For someone who has never visited a chiropractor—or who may be nervous about adjustments—the team wants the first visit to be educational rather than intimidating.

Each first visit includes a consultation, exam and adjustment. During the consultation, doctors discuss what brought the patient in and review their health history. If the exam shows an adjustment is appropriate, the patient receives one and the doctor then recommends a treatment plan to help get them back in peak form. Techniques are also adapted to the individual rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach.

The Glovers also want patients to know that beginning chiropractic care does not mean committing to visits indefinitely.

Their goal, they said, is for patients to understand their options and make informed decisions about their care.

How does the walk-in model make care easier for busy families?

Insurance approvals, deductibles, referrals and scheduling can make health care difficult to fit into an already busy week.

The Joint Chiropractic uses a self-pay model, meaning patients do not need insurance or an appointment to visit the clinic. The Glovers said the approach is designed to make chiropractic care easier to incorporate into everyday routines for young families, busy parents, students, teachers, health care workers and commuters.
