Sunset Valley City leaders reviewed a draft wildlife management plan at the Aug. 5 City Council meeting.
The plan "provides a framework for managing human-wildlife interactions," according to city staff.
The document includes specific management plans for coyotes, white-tailed deer, red imported fire ants, feral dogs and cats, and the endangered golden-cheeked warbler.
For managing coyote populations, the plan offers the options of hazing to encourage fear of humans, trapping and euthanizing, and public education. Public education includes safeguarding children and pets and decreasing attractants such as keeping pet food indoors.
