At Yogapeutics, adults and children can hang out while practicing yoga—literally.
The new business in Southwest Austin offers aerial yoga, a type of yoga in which participants practice yoga poses suspended in midair while they hang from fabric loops and hammocks. Owner Lindsey Lieneck is an occupational therapist and registered yoga instructor.
"The hammocks are attached to the ceiling and they are each certified by a professional engineer to support 1,000 pounds of dynamic force," Lieneck explained.
In what Lieneck describes as a "tiny but awesome" home-based studio, Yogapeutics offers aerial yoga adult group classes and aerial yoga children's classes for ages 4 to 10 that integrate life skills education with movement.
