Austin ISD is seeking input from members of the local construction industry on how to implement the first wave of projects that passed as part of the district's May 2013 bond election.
"We've asked the architectural, engineering and construction community to give us some feedback on how we've done on the previous bonds and also to give us some input on the potential rollout of the new bond program," said Jeffrey Kauffmann, AISD's director of construction management.
Members of the construction industry were invited to a meeting June 27 to provide the district with feedback. Kauffmann said the district will use the responses to determine what level of work the local architecture, engineering and construction community can handle each year given their current workloads.
"We don't want to overload the design and construction community," he said. "We want to keep as much of the work as we can local."
