Here's what you need to know this week if you live in Southwest Austin:
1.There is still room for growth of supply and home value appreciation in Southwest Austin, but as housing inventory creeps upward, experts predict prices will begin to stabilize. Austin Board of Realtors market data for single-family homes in Southwest Austin over the past five years indicates that inventory is increasing slightly in some areas and dramatically in others.
2. Austin-Bergstrom International Airport officials say the busiest travel days this holiday season are Dec. 20-23, Dec. 27-30 and Jan. 2-4. They recommend that travelers arrive at the airport terminal at least two hours before their flight is scheduled to depart.3. Schools including Veritas Academy, Valor Public Schools, WonderWell and Kairos Academy are looking to establish locations in Southwest Austin to serve the growing needs of parents and students.
4. Efforts are underway at the Texas Capitol to revamp the statewide Child Protective Services and foster care systems as Texas gears up for its 85th legislative session, which begins Jan. 10. In the meantime, organizations throughout the city, including in Southwest Austin, are working to help bridge the gap and provide foster families with the resources they need.

5. Hyde Park Bar & Grill's West Gate Boulevard location celebrates its 10-year anniversary this year. The restaurant has two locations and has been in business for 34 years, according to the company.
