Local company Jolt Coffee & Beverage opened a location Aug. 12 at 12024 W. Hwy. 290 in the Unlimited Powersports Food Court.

The business offers espresso drinks, smoothies, Italian sodas, teas, cocoa and apple cider as well as a variety of baked goods, according to owner Kim Scholer.
The coffee shop is a tribute to the memory of Scholer's son, Aaron Seligman.
"Aaron passed away six years ago after contracting cancer in the Army. He had a dream to own his own restaurant, which we were able to [do] for him until he got too sick to work," Scholer said in an email. "We walked away from the business to care for him."
Opening Jolt is the first step in raising funds to establish a retreat in his honor for people who are grieving loss in their lives, she said.
