Construction of Cypress Springs Elementary is over halfway done

Cypress Springs Elementary School, the fifth elementary school for Dripping Springs ISD, is more than halfway built. DSISD Director of Facilities and Construction Clint Pruett announced that progress on Cypress Springs' site and utility work is 78% complete, and progress on the school building is 51% complete as of Feb. 12.

"We'll be substantially complete this summer, God willing," Pruett said at a Feb. 22 meeting of the DSISD board of trustees.

Pruett shared updated photos of progress at the Cypress Springs site, located at the intersection of Sawyer Ranch Road and Darden Hill Road, including shots of utility installation in the gym and cafeteria.

The newly named elementary school will open to students this fall. In preparation, DSISD is in the process of adjusting elementary school attendance zones, with opportunities for community input. The next community meeting to discuss rezoning is scheduled for March 2.

Pruett also shared progress for several other construction projects from the district's 2018 bond program. The new building for Walnut Springs Elementary School, which will join the campus of Dripping Springs Middle School, is 42% complete, with site and utility work 75% complete. Plans to relocate the DSISD administration building are still in the schematic design phase; updated pricing information for that project is set for a March presentation to the board of trustees.
