Komal Sheth started her real estate and design journey with a passion for creating spaces that made people feel something, she said. Being drawn to texture and architecture alike led her to create a company that offers a range of remodeling, design and real estate services.
“What inspired me was to see how the design could bring in the warmth, the function, the beauty and the emotion together in such a meaningful way,” Sheth said.
The backstory
Sheth founded Spaces Designed in 2005, beginning with small design projects and word-of-mouth referrals. As her projects grew in scale, Sheath expanded into full home transformations, exploring how to make a space feel elevated and liveable.
Fostering a personal connection with clients became the foundation of Spaces Designed.

What are the options?
For residential design offerings, Spaces Designed takes on kitchen and bathroom design, home additions and project and construction management tasks. In addition to residential projects, the company also assists with commercial design—including experience with healthcare facilities, retail centers, gas stations and schools.
Another unique aspect of the business is Sheth’s experience as a real estate advisor. Spaces Designed offers assistance with purchasing and selling property, space planning, furnishing and styling.
The specifics
When working on the design side of the business, many projects start out as smaller home renovations. As design professionals better understand a client's needs, they may branch into other areas of the home to improve the flow and functionality.
Sheth said the team at Spaces Designed starts by creating a master plan of the entire renovation or remodeling project and slowly implementing it in phases, based on the provided budget.
“We sort of backtrack and say, ‘Okay, this is the budget, this is how much we can do, but what is it going to take for this house to be elevated to this level and meet the clients' expectations?” Sheth explained.

Spaces Designed offers a one-time consultation for people interested in design advice. During the two-hour consultation, Sheth gives advice on paint colors, furniture selections, light fixtures and more.
This option is helpful for individuals with a budget under 20K because it allows them to move forward independently with Sheth’s suggestions, she said.
