Check out six events for locals to attend in Southwest Austin and Dripping Springs in August and early September. Activities include Ice Age Night Brisketfest 2026 and a wine and cheese tasting.

Float and Flick
The city of Dripping Springs welcomes residents to its final Float and Flick event of the season at Founders Memorial Pool. Attendees can pack a towel and swimsuit for a poolside showing of “The Princess and the Frog.” Princess Tiana will also make an appearance at the pool, hosting a meet and greet from 7:15-8:15 p.m.
Brisketfest 2026
Local band Jimmy Eat Brisket and The Far Out Lounge are collaborating to present Brisketfest, featuring live music, barbecue, shopping and artists. The event will feature music from acts like Jimmy Eat Brisket and Chancla Fight Club, as well as brisket from Stack City BBQ and Beer, KG BBQ and more.

Ice Age Night
The Ladybird Johnson Wildflower Center invites locals to visit the Ice Age exhibit after dark. The installation includes 15 mammal sculptures scattered throughout the gardens and the event will feature free face painting, a craft, a dance party and food and beverages available from Fairy Freeze and The Corndog Company.

Puppy Plunge
Puppies and people can head to Founders Memorial Pool for a canine plunge. Dogs of all ages and breeds are welcome; one dog per handler is required and owners must provide proof of rabies vaccination for pets. The event marks the closing of Founders Memorial Pool for the season.
Women of Worth (WOW!) Celebration
Dripping Springs local Lisa Sullivan is hosting the inaugural Women of Worth (WOW!) Celebration and awards ceremony to honor the women of Dripping Springs. The celebration will feature lunch, speakers, awards, music, shopping and an artist showcase.
Wine & Cheese, thoughtfully paired
Wine and cheese lovers can head to Gardien for an evening of food and beverage pairings with Antonelli's Cheese. The event will include seven cheeses, seven specialty foods and four wines.
