H-E-B broke ground on a new 103,000-square-foot store in South Austin, at the location of the former Nutty Brown Amphitheatre.

The Nutty Brown Amphitheatre closed on Nov. 28, and the plan is to open a new location in Round Rock called Round Rock Amp. H-E-B purchased the property in 2015.
The new H-E-B is designed to honor the historic amphitheater by showcasing memorabilia from the landmark, such as the red brick from the Nutty Brown food oven, according to an H-E-B press release. The store will also include a mural, featuring photography from the amphitheater.
