Check out eight events for locals to attend in Southwest Austin and Dripping Springs happening in September. Activities include painting with goats, live music and a Mexican Independence Day celebration.

Mommy & Me Poolside Playdate
Head to Goldfish Swim School for a parent playdate featuring crafts, swimming and creativity.
Austin Bat Fest
This event celebrates the world’s largest urban bat colony beneath the Ann Richards Congress Street Bridge with live music, costume contests, children’s activities, food and more.
Tailgate Paint Night
Football fans can kick off the season with a pottery painting event at The Art Garage. Painters should arrive by 6 p.m. and must have a ticket to enter. Pottery is not included in the price of admission, but certain pieces will be discounted during the event, including football and tailgate themed pottery. Pottery will be ready for pickup seven days after the event, and the business encourages fans to dress in their team colors.
Wimberley Venue Crawl
The third annual showcase will feature more than 13 wedding venues and over 60 wedding professionals. Guests can enjoy refreshments, music, giveaways and more. Tickets include access to all events, tours, refreshments, vendor showcases, parking and entry into a grand prize drawing, which includes a $500 credit toward a participating venue.
An Evening Celebrating America
The Pound House Farmstead is hosting a benefit concert with music from Desert Highway, an Eagles tribute band, and the Kyle Sisters.
Mexican Independence Day celebration
Visit The Far Out Lounge for a Mexican Independence Day celebration with music from Pinãta Protest, a “Tex-Mex punk” band, food, games and vendors.
Pet(ite) Pet Portraits w/ Studio Tak Tak
Studio Tak Tak will host a glass fusing workshop where participants can create a mini portrait of their pet. An instructor will show how to safely cut and assemble pieces of sheet glass while adding additional embellishments. Materials are included in the ticket price; items will be available for pickup two to three weeks after the workshop.
Fall Equinox Ceremony: Return to Balance
Community members can gather at Flow Yoga for an evening of music, seasonal teaching, poetry, relaxation, meditation and sound healing.
Painting with Goats at Vista Brewing
Goat Shenanigans is popping up at Vista Brewing in Driftwood for a baby goat and pumpkin painting event. Tickets include a wooden pumpkin and painting supplies. Baby goats will be roaming around in their Halloween outfits; attendees are encouraged to dress in costume, too.
