From memorial projects to animal rescues, more than 100 local groups have received support from Dripping Springs Community Foundation, or DSCF, over the past few decades.
The big picture
A group of community-minded residents founded DSCF in 1999 to provide funding for local needs, according to its website. The foundation operates two grant cycles per year, and awards grants to multiple projects each cycle.
"We're not trying to compete with other nonprofits who are serving clientele," President Chris Marcum said. "We are here for the long term ... to invest in the community over time."
Milestones the foundation has accomplished include:
26 years of service
122 local projects
52 nonprofits supported
A closer look
Recently, DSCF provided funds to support projects like the Dorian Zev Kweller Memorial Skatepark, Lonestar Outreach to Place Ex-Racers and DSTX Together, which surveys local residents to discover community priorities for the future.
"The DSTX Cares Project, I think, has great promise to inventory our community about what is important and what should be considered in the long term for our community," Marcum said. "We're growing so fast, and we really want to try to continue to build the community together as one community."
Get involved
For those who would like to support DSCF's mission, Marcum said the foundation accepts donations to an undesignated fund. Interested individuals can also browse DSCF's nonprofit directory if they would like to donate to one of those organizations directly.
