After a government shutdown earlier this month resulted in delays in airports across the nation, air operations at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport have returned to normal. However, with holiday travel underway, airport officials expect heavy passenger traffic following a year of record numbers.
ABIA officials share their top tips for flying this holiday season:
1. Give yourself extra time
Airport officials recommend getting to the airport at least 2 1/2 hours before a domestic flight and three hours ahead for international travel. It is suggested for those checking bags, returning a rental car or having other errands before security to build additional time.
