The League of Women Voters of Hays County will host the three candidates running for two San Marcos CISD board of trustee positions Monday. Incumbents Anne Halsey and John McGlothlin, as well as newcomer James McCutcheon, are running for the two at-large positions. The school board elections will be held May 5, and the top two vote-getters will be declared the winners. School board trustees at SMCISD serve staggered three-year years and meet several times a month. Seven trustees serve on the board in San Marcos. Halsey has served as an at-large trustee since 2015 and has served as vice president for two years. McGlothlin has served one term as trustee and is the current vice president. McCutcheon is a teacher, a recreational softball coach and a small-business owner. Refreshments will be served from 6 to 6:30 p.m. on Monday, and the forum will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the San Marcos Activity Center. The league will ask candidates six questions each about their experience and thoughts on SMCISD issues. Early voting for the May 5 election begins April 23 and ends May 1.
