The San Marcos CISD board of trustees named Michael Cardona the lone finalist to take over as the district's next superintendent on May 2. Cardona worked as the chief school officer for Houston ISD from 2012-16. State law requires the district wait 21 days after naming the lone finalist to formally offer a contract. Cardona is expected to take over the superintendent duties this summer.
