The Local, 210 N. Edward Gary St., San Marcos, will open by mid-2017, developer John David Carson said. The mixed-use project will feature retailers at the street level and five stories of residential units. Construction on the project began in early January. Carson said he hopes the project, on the former site of Triple Crown, Cedars and Eskimo Hut, will help foster a walkable lifestyle downtown.
