On April 20 the Hays Central Appraisal District released preliminary property values April 18, indicating a 53.27% jump in all property value in Hays County compared to 2021, according to a report from the district.
Residential market values across the county rose by 44.53%, from $312,248 in 2021 to $451,296. The change in taxable property value was greater in the same period, up 47.84% from $292,016 in 2021 to $431,709.
Commercial and industrial real property values increased 40.86% and residential multifamily properties went up 47.2%, according to the report.
Almost 4,000 new homes and 27 new commercial properties were added to appraisal rolls for 2022, according to the HCAD. New improvements to existing properties added more than $2.21 billion in taxable property value for 2022.
