UPDATED 3:30 P.M., MARCH 5
According to Texas A&M Forest Service, the Onion Creek Fire is currently at 75% containment. The fire burned to just under 200 acres, but due to efforts from several regional emergency services crews, there has been no loss of life or property, according to a Facebook post by Hays County Judge Ruben Becerra,
"A dozer line was established overnight to contain the fire, and Onion Creek served as a natural barrier to stop its progression. Today, crews are continuing mop-up efforts to ensure everything remains secure," Becerra said in the post.
Becerra also issued a burn ban throughout Hays County—effective immediately— until March 12.
