Q&A: Meet the candidates running for Hays County Commissioners Court, Precinct 4

Why are you running for this position?

I’m running because Hays County needs experienced, common sense leadership that can manage growth, protect taxpayers, support public safety and invest responsibly in infrastructure. I’ve spent years serving our community as a school board trustee and veteran, and I’m ready to bring that experience to county government.

What would your top priorities be if elected?

My priorities are public safety, responsible growth, infrastructure, fiscal discipline and protecting the character of Hays County. We need to plan roads and water capacity ahead of development, fund essential services first, keep taxes low and debt under control, and preserve the Hill Country quality of life.

How will you balance the development of data centers and other large projects with constituent concerns about rapid growth?

We need a clear, consistent policy that protects residents while respecting property rights. Large projects should be evaluated based on infrastructure capacity, water availability, traffic, drainage, environmental impacts, and the burden they place on taxpayers. Data Centers specifically and the Texas Hill Country are simply not compatible.

What do you see as the greatest challenge for Hays County in the next 5 years?

Managing rapid growth while maintaining the quality of life that makes Hays County special. Our population and development will continue to increase, putting pressure on roads, water, public safety, drainage and county services. The challenge is preparing ahead of growth rather than constantly trying to catch up.

Why are you running for this position?

I’m running because care must become action. Raised by a hardworking single mother and grounded in 30 years of family roots here, I understand sacrifice. Hays County deserves people-powered leadership that protects what money cannot replace—our water, land and community. I am yours, not theirs.

What would your top priorities be if elected?

Water first, safety first, people first. I will protect aquifers, fix bottlenecks before building unnecessary roads, support law enforcement and emergency services, defend private property, control taxes, strengthen transparency, and give residents a seat at the table. I will be a water-warrior commissioner for Republicans, Democrats and Independents alike.

How will you balance the development of data centers and other large projects with constituent concerns about rapid growth?

I believe in growth—but growth must follow water. As a REALTOR®, I know unreliable water threatens homes and property values; that is anti-growth. I oppose high-water-demand projects that shift costs onto residents. I take no data-center or large-developer money. We cannot drink money, and my judgment is not for sale.

What do you see as the greatest challenge for Hays County in the next five years?

The next five years will decide whether growth strengthens Hays County or consumes what makes it home. The challenge is not stopping growth; it is preventing irreversible loss. We must preserve water, rural land, affordability and mobility through honest planning—because some things, once lost, cannot be rebuilt.
