Q&A: Meet the candidates running for Hays County Commissioner Precinct 2

Why are you running for this position?

Commissioners make decisions that meet you at your front door: setting the tax rate, improving roads and funding public safety. I have extensive, multifaceted experience in the private sector that lends itself to this role. Raising my family here, I have a vested interest: ensuring Pct 2 has a voice.

What would your top priorities be if elected?

Infrastructure: Prioritize long overdo East side roads, traffic and safety; timely and efficiently meeting deadlines. Public Safety: Ensure responding agencies have the training, tools and resources they need to keep our families and children safe. Fiscal Responsibility: Transparent and accountable stewardship of tax-dollars, prioritizing critical county needs & services.

How will you balance the development of data centers and other large projects with constituent concerns about rapid growth?

I will evaluate large projects based on long-term impacts to infrastructure, natural resources, emergency services, economic impact and quality of life. I will work closely with residents, local businesses and county departments to ensure growth is sustainable, transparent and beneficial to the people of Hays County.

What do you see as the greatest challenge for Hays County in the next 5 years?

Continued population growth along the I-35 corridor (fastest-growing region of the county) and funding to sustain critical needs: roads, emergency services, land-use planning and county budgets. Fiscally responsible long-term planning is essential. Precinct 2 is established neighborhoods and expanding communities, requiring disciplined, transparent leadership to meet their unique needs.

Why are you running for this position?

I am running for Hays County Commissioner because, as a former Hays CISD school board trustee, I’ve seen families struggle with roads in disrepair, inadequate infrastructure, food insecurity and limited services, especially east of I-35. What would your top priorities be if elected?

My top priorities are improving county roads, especially on the Eastside; expanding mental and public health services; strengthening public safety and emergency response; and doing everything we can to ease the burden on working families as the cost of living rises and families across Hays County feel the strain.

How will you balance the development of data centers and other large projects with constituent concerns about rapid growth?

My message is clear: unchecked data center development is not welcome in Hays County. I support innovation, but not at the expense of working families. We need greater local control to protect our water, preserve our quality of life and ensure growth is responsible, sustainable and community-driven.

What do you see as the greatest challenge for Hays County in the next 5 years?

The greatest challenge facing Precinct 2 is keeping pace with rapid growth while delivering results for residents. Improving our roads is both a public safety issue and a matter of good government. We must tackle congestion, especially around growing communities and new campuses, while using taxpayer dollars responsibly and efficiently.
