Following a February arrest for driving while intoxicated, San Marcos CISD District 1 board trustee Miguel Arredondo issued a statement in which he stepped down from a subcommittee role.
His statement came after a nearly hourlong executive session during a March 8 meeting.
"First of all, I want to thank you for your respect ... as I respond to the events surrounding my Feb. 18 arrest," Arredondo said. "After discussions with colleagues in closed session, I am voluntarily stepping down from role in the ISD's central office subcommittee per our deliberations in executive session as a sanction due to my violation of board operating procedures."
Board President Clementine Cantu said there are limited options the board may pursue when a trustee violates operating procedures, and that is why it was decided Arredondo would step down from his role on the subcommittee.
