The Hays County Local Health Department reported 131 new cases of COVID-19 confirmed by the county since Feb. 23 and seven new hospitalizations along with 10 new discharges.
There are 334 residents considered recovered in that timeframe, bringing the current total of active cases down to 2,272. This time in January the active total in the county was 5,791. That is a reduction in active cases of 60.77%.
There are currently 10 people hospitalized, and five of them, or 50%, are unvaccinated, according to the county.
Of those in the hospital, one is in the intensive care unit on a ventilator, two are in the ICU without a ventilator, and the remaining seven are not ICU patients. One vaccinated patient is in the ICU with a ventilator. Hays County includes residents with at least one dose of a two-dose vaccine as vaccinated in their reports.
