Hays County reported five COVID-19-related fatalities Feb. 22 along with 357 new confirmed cases for a total of 2,501 active cases. The data reflects the period of Feb. 19-22.
The Hays County Local Health Department identified the fatalities as an Austin woman in her 80s, a Kyle woman in her 40s, a San Marcos man in his 50s, a San Marcos woman in her 60s and a San Marcos man in his 70s.
Of the 2,501 active cases, there are 14 individuals hospitalized, six of which are unvaccinated.
Of the 14 hospitalized individuals, seven are in the intensive care unit; two individuals are on ventilators.
