Hays County reports 2 COVID-19-related fatalities Nov. 29-Dec. 6

Of those in the hospital, two are in the intensive care unit on ventilators; four are in the ICU without a ventilator; and the remaining four are not ICU patients. One vaccinated patient is in the ICU without a ventilator.

The total number of lab-confirmed cases in Hays County has reached 30,558 since the beginning of the pandemic, of which 517 have occurred in the past 21 days, down slightly from the previous week’s report.

Hays County reported 290,110 negative tests since the beginning of the pandemic as well as 408 fatalities.

The Texas Department of State Health Services now reports total vaccine counts based on those age 5 up instead of age 12 and up. The total number of Hays County residents age 5 and older with at least one vaccine dose is now 71.85%, and 61.9% of residents are fully vaccinated. About 99.99% of Hays County residents 65 years old and older have received at least one dose, and 93.67% of that population is fully vaccinated.

Both Hays and San Marcos CISDs keep a COVID-19 dashboard of cases. HCISD reported 27 active student cases and 12 active staff cases after reporting none prior to the Thanksgiving holiday. There are not any closed campuses or classrooms actively in a remote learning situation.

SMCISD reported two active student cases Dec. 6 and one active staff case. All campuses in the district are open.
