Hays County reports 1 COVID-19-related fatality Nov. 15-22

Of those in the hospital, three are in the intensive care unit on ventilators; five are in the ICU without a ventilator; and the remaining five are not ICU patients. One vaccinated patient is in the ICU without a ventilator.

The total number of lab-confirmed cases in Hays County has now reached 30,303 since the beginning of the pandemic, 637 of which have occurred in the past 21 days.

Hays County reported 284,861 negative tests since the beginning of the pandemic as well as 404 fatalities.

The Texas Department of State Health Services now reports total vaccine counts based on those age 5 and up instead of age 12 years old. The total number of Hays County residents age 5 and up with at least one vaccine dose is now 70.63%, and 60.48% of residents are fully vaccinated. Nearly all Hays County residents 65 years and older have received at least one dose, or 99.99%, and 92.98% of that population is fully vaccinated.

Both Hays CISD and San Marcos CISD keep a COVID-19 dashboard of cases. Hays CISD has 32 active student cases. There are 12 active staff cases. There are not any classrooms actively in a remote learning situation or closed campuses.

San Marcos CISD reported three active student cases and one active staff as of the week of Nov. 15-19. All campuses in the district are open.
