Douglas Smith Artisan Soap Co. coming soon to San Marcos

Douglas Smith Artisan Soap Co., a locally owned soap company, is setting up shop at 208 N. LBJ Drive, San Marcos.

The soap company sells a variety of plant-based handcrafted soap and shave products.

“We don't use any synthetic lathering agents or detergent in our soaps,” said Michael Douglas-Smith, who owns Douglas Smith Artisan Soap Co. with his husband Kevin Douglas-Smith. “We use a lot of luxury ingredients and so we keep our product labeling very minimal because we want this to be an accessible, good clean skincare that's safe for everyone's skin.”

The soap company frequents the San Marcos Farmers Market and other Hill Country farmers markets. The two decided to open a location in San Marcos after building a base with the community.

“We love our San Marcos community and the way they've been supporting us,” Michael said.

Kevin also emphasized how they wanted their business to be a “productive, healthy, positive” part of the community by giving back to community organizations and local charities.

“It just felt like the next best step would be to have a store to where people could find us every day instead of just on Saturdays,” Michael said.

Douglas Smith Artisan Soap Co. is anticipated to open in early August.
