4-story Extended Stay America hotel to break ground in Kyle

A new hotel—Extended Stay America, located along Seton Parkway—is expected to break ground this spring.

The Kyle Planning and Zoning Commission unanimously approved a conditional-use permit Feb. 13 for the Extended Stay America hotel. The permit will give the engineers an additional six-months to break ground or show active progress on the site.

According to agenda documents, the four-story hotel will have 124 rooms and be 53,877 square feet.

Jorge Gonzalez-Rodiles, Southland Consulting Engineers president, said they made the request because the sewer line the development is supposed to tie into is only 2.5 feet deep, which he said was “very, very shallow” and that they were “anxious” to get started.

“We’ve gone [and looked] at alternatives, worked very closely with the engineer department and the Public Works department, and we’re extremely close to finalizing the easement going to the north,” Gonzalez-Rodiles said.

According to Gonzalez-Rodiles, the easement would allow the gravity sewer to tie into and be in conjunction with the north property.

“We’re almost there. As soon as we get that, we’ll be ready to go,” he said.
