22-acre RV sales facility in Buda on path to major renovations

The Camper Clinic II facility owned by RV Retailer, LLC and located at 15855 S. I-35 in Buda is on its way to major site renovations that will see two companies, Airstream and ExploreUSA, get new facilities on the roughly 20-acre site.

In order to facilitate the changes, Buda officials on May 4 passed the first readings of a two-part approval consisting of a rezoning of the site to B3, or I-35 business, as well as a specific use permit application for automobile and other vehicle sales in the B3 district.

Staff said the SUP and rezone are expected to pass a second reading at an upcoming City Council meeting through the consent agenda.

Graham Moore of Cool Breeze Consultants, LLC, the firm helping oversee the facility overhaul, said the project is meant to give the RV dealership the buildings it deserves.

“This is one of [RV Retailer, LLC’s] flagship Airstream stores, and so we want to give it its own building and make it really stand out,” Moore said. “Same thing with Explorer USA. Right now, it’s a couple of modular buildings and some canopies.”

Moore said the completion of the project will also more than double the staff to about 90 employees.

A specific timeline has not yet been issued for the renovations, but council approved the rezoning and SUP with added conditions. A staff review of the site plan for the new facilities must be completed, and sidewalks must be constructed along FM 2001 adjacent to the site.
