Cibolo's Community Center, located at 203 S. Main St., opened to the city’s older adults on Sept. 29.

What you need to know

During Cibolo City Council's Sept. 23 meeting, City Manager Wayne Reed said interior renovations for the first phase of the center—formerly known as the Noble Group Event Center—were completed.

The first phase of renovations transitioned the city's senior programming into the center. The second phase consists of renovations for city staff offices, Communications Manager Jeanette Gonzalez said.

The council also approved a rental agreement for the center for times without senior programming.

Residents and nonresidents will have differing rates to rent out the facility. A 10% discount will be applied for military and seniors, according to agenda documents.

Mayor Pro Tem Katie Cunningham said a discount should also be given to community groups like nonprofits and youth groups.

“I don’t want to make it cost-prohibitive for groups like that," Cunningham said. "We really want to encourage the community, these organizations to use our facilities and be involved with Cibolo because they help make it a home and not just a city where people live.”

Mayor Mark Allen said amendments can be made to the rental agreement after the initial approval.
