Retama Park celebrated its grand reopening with the return of live horse races.

Bryan Pettigrew, vice president and general manager of Texas Racing operations for PENN Entertainment, Retama Park representatives and The Chamber (Schertz-Cibolo-Selma Area) attended a ribbon-cutting ceremony June 27 followed by a meet and greet with camels and ostriches that will also be racing between horse races.

“We’re really excited to bring these events back,” Pettigrew said.

What to expect


The 23-day Quarter Horse racing season will run June 27 and will conclude Aug. 17. Ostriches will race after horse race 3 and camels will race after horse race 6 on both June 28 and 29, according to details shared by Retama officials. The complete calendar can be found here.
