Final early voting tallies from the Bexar County Elections Department show that approximately 44% of registered voters cast their ballot from Oct. 21-Nov. 1.

The overview

According to the Texas secretary of state, Bexar County has 1.3 million registered voters. Data released on Nov. 1 shows that 574,920 voters cast their ballots during the early voting period at 51 early voting locations countywide.

San Antonio residents cast the most votes with 461,827, followed by Helotes with 19,727 and Shavano Park with 15,142.

Encino Branch Library saw the highest turnout with 24,112 ballots cast, followed by Northwest Vista College with 23,754, Brookhollow Branch Library with 23,068 and Semmes Branch Library with 20,276.


An additional five of the 51 early polling locations had at least 18,000 ballots cast during the early voting period.

Ballots feature several federal and state races as well as county races, which include Bexar County sheriff and Bexar County Precinct 3 commissioner. San Antonio residents will also vote on six city charter proposals.

What else?

According to the Texas secretary of state, Bexar County early voter turnout declined slightly from 2020 with 56.55% of voters casting their ballots during the early voting period. However, early voting trended upward compared to the 2022 midterm elections, which saw 31.69% of voters casting their ballots during the early voting period.
