Monk—who has nine years of education experience—will be replacing Tina Curtis. Monk earned a Bachelor of Science from Our Lady of the Lake University and a Masters in Education Administration from Stephen F. Austin University.

He currently serves as the assistant principal at Judson High School, where he maintained a focus in the fine arts, athletics and physical education departments, according to the district's website.

Monk joins Steven Piles, who was also hired as a new principal within the district.

Superintendent Paige Meloni said Piles and Monk were two important hires.

"[These] are the hardest decision that we ever have to make, and we're so proud to get here tonight," Meloni said.
