What else?
One change between calendar for the upcoming school year and previous calendars is the reduction of early release days.
In the 2024-25 school year, the calendar has early release day prior to breaks. The calendar for the 2025-26 school year only has one early release day on the last day of school, May 28.
Deputy Superintendent Mary Duhart-Toppen said surrounding school districts have removed the half days before breaks in an effort to improve average daily attendance.
“Our attendance takes a massive hit on those days, because students do not come to school,” she said. “You are only in school from three and a half hours to four hours, so parents keep their students at home.”
The dates for spring break are scheduled to line up with the spring break dates of the Alamo Colleges District to ensure that students in the duel-enrollment program and other programs with the college have the same break times.
