The meeting, which was held mostly in closed session, had board discussions regarding Ealy’s retirement and the beginning discussions of the superintendent search.
Ealy will continue as the superintendent until Jan. 31, giving the board around four months to find a new superintendent.
The background
Ealy became the superintendent for SCUCISD in February 2020 after serving as the superintendent for College Station ISD for around six years.
Over the course of 32 years, Ealy has worked as a campus administrator, teacher, coach and superintendent at districts in Texas.
“Thirty-two years in education is a long time, and it is something that I didn’t know I would go into,” Ealy said. “It has been a rewarding and worthwhile career, and something that I am very very proud of, especially the last 10 years of being a superintendent and leading two great school districts.”
What’s next?
The next board meeting will be held Sept. 19, which did not have the agenda posted as of publication time.
During upcoming board meetings, trustees will begin the superintendent search process, which will include superintendent interviews with the goal of hiring a new superintendent by the time Ealy retires.
