Long before opening Wraptitude, Ryan Cummings came up with the name and idea while eating at a taco shop in Hawaii.

Cummings wanted a place where people could enjoy “wraps with attitude,” and in 2010, he and his wife, Hidee, opened the first location in Oregon, he said.

The Cummingses moved to Texas in 2014, seeking better opportunities for their family, and opened a new Wraptitude north of Garden Ridge in 2017.

“We came to Texas because we were trying to get my kids in better schools,” Cummings said.

Cummings said he found the area near Garden Ridge while visiting Natural Bridge Caverns.

“We came here in 2014 and did not do anything really besides go to the Natural Bridge Caverns,” he said. “There wasn’t really anything out here, and for any of these people to eat, they had to go into New Braunfels or into Schertz.”

Wraptitude features a selection of wraps, burgers, sandwiches, tacos and craft beer.

“Our fries are really popular, and we have people say they are the best fries in the known universe,”

Cummings said. “Our burger wrap and [The] Rattler burger are also popular.”

In Texas, the top sellers changed for the restaurant, with burgers becoming more popular, he said.

“In Oregon, I am definitely about 60% wraps and 40% burgers, but in Texas, I am 60% burgers and 40% wraps,” he said. “It is definitely the beef country down here, so we are really known for our burgers.”

Wraptitude offers a combination of outdoor and indoor seating, a kids play area outside as well as other activities, and on Friday and Saturday nights, the restaurant features live music.

Cummings said that in the future, he would like to open more locations around the area.

“I would like to see us in New Braunfels and Spring Branch,” he said. “I would like to go a little bit east and a little bit west, but we will see what the future brings.”

For now, Cummings plans on focusing on his existing location and serving those who have come to love Wraptitude.

“Garden Ridge has been the most welcoming and supportive community I could hope for,” he said. “Moving my family here has really been a blessing.”
